Other highlights of the program included the  giving of love gifts to 32 non-JIL churches and pastors from other Christian denominations. The churches and pastors were selected by the ministerial heads in Metro Manila.

"Ipanalangin nyo pong higit na marami pang mga simbahan at mga manggagawa ng Diyos ang ating mapagpala,” said Villanueva.

The iCare Compassion Ministry of JIL also gave away gift boxes to 3,200 children and grocery items to 3,200 families. They were represented on stage by 32 children and mothers.

The selected children and families were from Parola, Capulong, Aroma, Sunod-Apog, Raxabago in Tondo and from various places in Metro Manila including Tambunting, Sampaloc, Baseco, Paco, San Andres, Sta Ana, Leveriza, Malate, Pembo, Mandaluyong, Nueve De Pebrero, San Juan, Taguig-Pateros, Kaunlaran, and Malabon.

The program ended in a parade of flag featuring the 44 countries where JIL churches are currently planted and the 36 countries JIL is set to reach in the next ten years.

Today, JIL is in five continents. It has reached 44 countries and has planted churches in 875 cities. It regularly conducts 11,589 worship services worldwide.

“This is all for the glory of God,” said Villanueva.

We went to the event to support Carol, a very good friend from way back.Multitudes of believers. Congratulatory speeches. Songs of Praise, dancing. . .We enjoyed ourselves.

The Photo Exhibit: The Tour of Hope and The On-going War Against Cervical Cancer

The invite came riding in a red toy bike.

A master lensman. A noble cause. And hundreds of passionate advocates.
The exhibit opening was scheduled at 6pm, while the 11am event was just a prelude. Some of the participantsrelived their experiences during the recent Tour of Hope 2010, including Joyette Jopson of Team David's Salon, actress Mymy Davao, and Tristan Cho. Ever the beauty queen, Abbygale Arenas de Leon came in white blouse and white pants, and said her piece. "The message is very clear: cervical cancer is easily preventable, and women do not have to die from it," proclaims Abbygale Arenas, Bravehearts representative and wife of Jun de Leon. "By empowering Filipinas with information about this disease, we look forward to winning the battle versus cervical cancer." This year, they raised nearly one million in pledges and sponsorships to further spread the anti-cervical cancer message across the Philippines. It's amazing how dedicated these women are in their race to fight the deadly CC. This early they are planning for a grander event next year.

Actually, the exhibit was the culmination of the Tour of Hope 2010 360 Degrees: Fighting Cervical Cancer In Full Circle event last March 20-24,  wherein  hundreds of people from different walks of life  traveled a 500-kilometer cycling tour from Manila to Baguio inspired by the same goal, that is basically to raise the public's awareness of cervical cancer,  the second most common female cancer afflicting Filipino women .And everyday, 12 Filipinas die of cervical cancer.
Famous faces, all of them heroes, at the Tour of Hope 2010 Kick Off

Some of the photos at the TToH 2010 exhibit
or celebrity photographer Jun de Leon, an advocate and staunch supporter of cervical cancer awareness, his camera is his tool in spreading awareness here in the country. With his team,  he joined the 5-day tour to immortalize some of the most winning moments of the event . “Through ‘The Tour of Hope’ exhibit, I want to showcase the passionate fight of these biker heroes in bringing down cervical cancer deaths here in the country.” The visual array of photographs  were featured in a grand exhibit at the lobby of Greenbelt 3 from October 1-6.

The photographs serve both as testament to the heroism of the "Tour of Hope" bikers---and a challenge as well for more people to defy cervical cancer and live to celebrate the beauty of life.

The Tour of Hope: Awareness is the Key
The Tour of Hope (TToH), is a non-profit initiative of a group of like-minded people of various
backgrounds, which set-up bicycle tours in order to increase awareness and raise funds for
health prevention and education projects benefiting resource limited communities. TTOH is a
joint project of CIF/CECAP, Bravehearts, GlaxoSmithKline Philippines, and in strategic
partnership with Team David’s Salon, the Philippine’s first all-women multi-sport team,
dedicated in promoting sports and at the same time sharing a passion for health and
wellness.  It has managed to attract people from all walks of lifesince it started in 2008. This
include personalities such as Senator Pia Cayetano and sports polymath Jeena Lopez.  Bravehearts is currently supported by a growing number of women, including prominent
personalities such as Sen. Loren Legarda, Rina Jimenez David, Ellen Tordesillas,
Atty.Gaby Concepcion, Tessa Prieto David, Abbygale Arenas de Leon and Suzi Entrata.

But the good news is ---GlaxoSmithKline has the  cervical cancer vaccine that shows the most promise in defending them from cervical cancer. Its cervical cancer vaccine provides significant protection for women against the  two  most common cancer-causing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types (HPV types 16 and 18) for at least seven, the longest duration of protection reported to date. Modeling studies also demonstrate that it may  provide protection for 20-50 years.
The GSK’s cervical cancer vaccine has also shown efficacy against 12 other cancer-causing HPV types beyond HPV 16 and 18, which includes HPV strain 45 – another strain which prevalently causes cervical cancer among Filipinas. Designed to last for both young and mature women, females from 10 years old onwards can be vaccinated using GSK’s cervical cancer vaccine.

**When I learned about the Tour of Hope in a press con I attended and its aim to educate the Filipinas about the perils of cervical cancer early this year, it was really my fervent wish that I could go with the tour. But much to my regret and frustration, I never did learn how to ride a bike (oh, I know how to ride the three-wheeled ones and the stationery exercise bike I have at home, but what good would it do on a tour like this?) What I can do is make sure that this piece of article gets published and read by everybody. And maybe there is still hope for me with the bike, who knows.  Anyway, age is just a number, right?
TToH 2009: Bikers' Sky

The road may be rough and arduous, but as long as there are people who care, more and more Filipinas will live free from the disease.

7 WEIRDEST PLACES TO HAVE A DRINK (researched)

The 7 Weirdest Places to Have a Drink
A life list of bizarre and unusual watering holes  in honor of the Halloween celebrations

Drink enough, and even your standard neighborhood bar can take on a surreal appearance. Anyone who's had a zombie or two in one sitting can attest to the power of totally normal walls to swap places with the floorboards. So what happens if the watering hole is surreal from the outset?

If you're looking to up the ante and start out in a place that's half-nightmare (drinks served in medical equipment, anyone?) or half-hallucination (ie, none of the waiters here are over 4 feet tall), try these bizarre -- or simply unexpected -- watering holes from around the globe.

1.) Gallagher's Pub, Antarctica
If there's anyone who needs access to a stiff drink, it's got to be the temporary residents and workers of Antarctica
. Located inside the McMurdo Research Station, Gallagher's Pub is one of three bars slinging beer and booze to explorers and scientists trapped in the world's harshest frozen desert.

2.) Chuck E Cheese, United States

In keeping with the theme of "places one needs a drink to survive," we offer America
's ubiquitous kid-centric pizza parlor. Okay, so it's clearly not a bar; you can't exactly walk in and order an Aviation. You can get a beer, though, and let's face it, surrounded by shrieking children and dead-eyed animatronics, anything with alcohol content will do the trick.

3.) Hobbit House, The Philippines

Hobbit House boasts two things: 100 beers, and the "smallest waiters in the world." Staffed entirely by little people, the Hobbit House was founded in the 1970s by a -- what else? -- Lord of the Rings obsessive who lived in Manila
on a Peace Corps assignment.

4.) Clinic, Singapore
There are two ways to combine the hospital experience with the drinking experience. Since one of the options involves alcohol poisoning and/or liver failure, if you're eager to have these two aesthetics in one night, your best bet is Clinic, the Singapore
bar filled with wheel chairs, hospital beds, and drinks served in syringes.

5.) DM Bar, Estonia

Violator fans and Music for the Masses loyalists, brace yourselves: DM stands for Depeche Mode. This Estonian bar pays no general homage to new wave or 80's synth; the love here is fully focused on the boys from Essex
. The walls are adorned with memorabilia, the juke box runs the band's discography, and members of the group have been known to stop in and run up a tab.

6.) Big Baobab Bar, South Africa
Come to the Sunland Farm in South Africa
to see the largest Baobab tree in the world, then stay -- or, rather, go inside of it -- to have a drink in its honor.

7.) Padre's Bar, Texas
The next time you're in Marfa, Texas, check out the ghost lights, then head to Padre's for the beer and some ghosts of the more traditional variety. Established in 2005, Padre's was built inside of an old funeral home; though the space was fully renovated, it's nonetheless eerie to be in a bathroom that was once an embalming chamber.

LADY KILLERS CANCER (researched)

FACTS ABOUT THE LADY KILLER CANCERS

The threat of the big C is quite ominous, frightening---and no matter what organ in your body it has attacked, cancer often leaves the sufferer bewildered, afraid, and wondering how soon is the end. For  cancer, as we all know is a killer. . .

So who would have thought that I'll be spending time putting up some facts about the types of cancers, which occur commonly in Filipino women, commonly called  lady killers or the gynecologic cancers, a group of cancers that affect the tissue and organs of the female reproductive system, with each type of cancer  named after the organ it originates.

MOST DREADED

1.  Breast Cancer  Cancer that forms in tissues of the breast, usually the ducts (tubes that carry milk to the nipple) and lobules (glands that make milk). It occurs in both men and women, although male breast cancer is rare.
In the Philippines, breast cancer is the leading type of cancer among Filipino women according to the Department of Health’s (DOH) latest data.  It has been reported that postmenopausal women aged 55 years and over have a 66% incidence of breast cancer mortality.Alarmingly, the Philippines has the highest prevalence of breast cancer in Asia. (Source: International Agency for Research on Cancer, 2004). 26 females out of 100 females and 1 male for every 105 males may be diagnosed with breast cancer in the Philippines.
What is known though is that obesity increases risk of post-menopausal breast cancer, and for obese women, weight loss can reduce cancer risk. The increased consumption of fruits and vegetables is also thought to be protective against breast cancer.
2. Cervical cancer is caused by a common virus known as HPV, or the Human Papilloma Virus. There are many types of HPV, and approximately 15 types are cancer-causing. HPV infection is easily transmitted, and it is estimated that 50-80 percent of women will acquire an HPV infection in their lifetime. And half of these women will be infected with cancer-causing HPV at some point, usually soon after their first sexual encounter. Risk of HPV infection persisting increases with age: the older the woman gets, the higher her risk of persistent HPV infection (one that does not go away on its own). Within 5 years of diagnosis, more than half of the women with cervical cancer won't survive. But it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer.
Coming in second to breast cancer, 12 Filipinas die of cervical cancer on a daily basis. But it is also one of the most preventable types of cancer. Regular screening and vaccination can protect you and your loved ones from this preventable disease.
Special mention is GlaxoSmithKline’s cervical cancer vaccine which provides significant protection for women against the two most common cancer-causing Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types (HPV types 16 and 18) designed to last for both young and mature women, females from 10 years old. The vaccine, which GSK claims to be for 15 to 55 years old,is to be taken for three periods, with the second taken a month after the first shot, and the third six months after the second shot.
3. Ovarian Cancer: Cancer that forms in tissues of the ovary (one of a pair of female reproductive glands in which the ova, or eggs, are formed). Most ovarian cancers are either ovarian epithelial carcinomas (cancer that begins in the cells on the surface of the ovary) or malignant germ cell tumors (cancer that begins in egg cells).
Cancer of the ovary is 12th overall, and ranks 5th among females.Ovarian cancers are usually asymptomatic at the outset and many case are detected late.  PinayinAction.com reports that incidences of ovarian cancer rise steeply in women starting at age 40. Doctors often say that early detection is a big factor in the battle against cancer, so it would be prudent to start being tested before this age.It is usually detected because of an abdominal mass, or mass felt during pelvic examination.
Roche announced recently that a second large, phase III, international study showed that the combination of bevacizumab and chemotherapy followed by the continued use of bevacizumab alone, increased the time women with previously untreated ovarian cancer lived without the disease worsening (progression-free survival or PFS, the primary endpoint), compared to chemotherapy alone.
3. Uterine Sarcoma: A rare type of uterine cancer that forms in muscle or other tissues of the uterus (the small, hollow, pear-shaped organ in a woman's pelvis in which a fetus develops). It usually occurs after menopause. The two main types are leiomyosarcoma (cancer that begins in smooth muscle cells) and endometrial stromal sarcoma (cancer that begins in connective tissue cells). Most often, it can be found in women who have completed menopause.
It seems that the greatest risk factor for developing this type of cancer is exposure to x-rays. If a woman has had radiation therapy to the pelvic area, her risk for developing uterine sarcoma cancer is increased significantly.Women who have taken the drug tamoxifen for breast cancer are also at a much higher risk for developing the disease.Like all cancer, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the chances are that the patient will make a full recovery.
 4. Vaginal Cancer: Cancer that forms in the tissues of the vagina (birth canal). The vagina leads from the cervix (the opening of the uterus) to the outside of the body. The most common type of vaginal cancer is squamous cell carcinoma, which starts in the thin, flat cells lining the vagina. Another type of vaginal cancer is adenocarcinoma, cancer that begins in glandular cells in the lining of the vagina.
When the cancer attacks, the spread of the malignant cells in the vagina cannot be controlled.Commonly, women between 45 to 65 gets vaginal cancer. The embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is one type of vaginal  cancer which may affect babaies and little girls. .
Symptoms. Abnormal vaginal bleeding and pain during sex. There is also a watery discharge  When cancer is already in the bladder and rectum, pain is usally felt in the said body parts.
How is it treated?Surgery of removal of the part infected with cancer is done. One way is called hysterectomy or removal of the lymph nodes in the pelvis. Radiotheraphy is already one of the solution.
Until now, the cause of vaginal cancer is not yet known. but studies said that exposure to estrogen of the mother during pregnancy is the culprit. The risk of having vaginal cancer is greater if the family has a history of cancer in their reproductive organs.
5. Vulvar Cancer: Cancer of the vulva (the external female genital organs, including the clitoris, vaginal lips, and the opening to the vagina).Vulvar Cancer is a rare disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the vulva but most often affects the labia majora (outer vaginal lips) or labia minora.
Vulvar cancer forms in a woman's external genitalia. The vulva includes the inner and outer lips of the vagina, the clitoris (sensitive tissue between the lips), and the opening of the vagina and its glands.
Vulvar cancer usually develops slowly over a period of years. Abnormal cells can grow on the surface of the vulvar skin for a long time. This precancerous condition is called vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN) or dysplasia. Because it is possible for VIN or dysplasia to develop into vulvar cancer, treatment of this condition is very important.HPV infection and older age can affect the risk of developing vulvar cancer.
